Story Under the Stars Film Series - Summer 2010

Join us for the second season of Story under the Stars, an outdoor film series held on the lawn of Bozeman's Story Mansion. Dates this year are Friday, August 20 (recheduled date) showing Young Frankenstein and Friday, September 3 showing The Music Man.

A joint venture between the Bozeman Film Festival and non-profit The Friends of Story Mansion, the event aims to create a new summertime tradition and introduce the community to the Story. Story Under the Stars will be the premier public gathering in the Bozeman's newly dedicated park.

Generous sponsorships by local businesses are covering all operating costs, allowing this to be a free public event. Those in the audience will be invited to join or make tax deductible contributions to The Friends of Story Mansion, the 501(c)3 organization tasked with raising money for landscaping the 5 acres park grounds. Proceeds benefit both the Friends of the Story Mansion and the Bozeman Film Festival.

With room on the lawn for only 300 people, everyone is encouraged to arrive early. Blankets or low back lawn chairs are recommended. Films begin at 8:45 PM with music and entertainment (to be announced) preceding the main attraction. Special guided tours of the newly renovated Story Mansion interior run from 6:00-7:30 before the movie starts.

Electricity for the film projector will come from portable solar panels installed by local company Independent Power Systems, making this the first known outdoor solar powered film festival in the US. The City of Bozeman will provide information on it's refillable water bottle program. As a "green on the green" event, attendees are encouraged to walk, bike, carpool or take the Streamline bus to the park, located at Willson and College. Those who drive but want to avoid parking congestion can park at the downtown parking garage and walk to the event.

In small towns and big cities across America (and around the world too) outdoor movie shows are a cherished summer tradition. This event brings the tradition to Bozeman in the perfect setting: The lawn of the Story Mansion.
